
Yanukovych's assets are keeping the Justice Ministry awake at night.
The Ministry of Justice has filed another lawsuit with the High Anti-Corruption Court to confiscate the assets of former President Viktor Yanukovych, writes EP.
This was reported by the head of the Department of Sanctions Policy of the Ministry of Justice, Inna Bogatykh, in Facebook.
«Today, the Ministry of Justice filed another lawsuit seeking the imposition of sanctions to seize assets from a sanctioned entity for the benefit of the Ukrainian state. The lawsuit was filed against Viktor Yanukovych, the former president of Ukraine, whose actions and decisions led to the war in Ukraine and laid the foundation for Russia's aggression."," the post about Yanukovych's assets says.
Bogatykh added that three lawsuits are pending against lesser-known individuals whose assets are not as significant.
She noted that the Department is determining whether to impose sanctions to recover assets for the benefit of the state against each sanctioned entity. Specifically, the grounds for the asset recovery sanction—whether they are owned directly or indirectly—are being determined.
In turn, Deputy Minister of Justice Irina Mudra added that the Ministry of Justice operates in accordance with all international standards.
«This approach protects our decisions from potential future litigation.“,” Mudra noted.
She also said that by the end of 2022, lawsuits are planned to be filed against several businessmen from the Russian Forbes list.
«Already in the final stage, a number of less significant cases on the assets of those individuals who support Russia's aggression"," the Deputy Minister of Justice added.
