There are many individuals in Ukrainian politics with highly dubious, even "criminal," reputations. Yulia Tymoshenko's former ally, Oleksandr Dubovoy, is no exception. He is quite a scandalous figure. At one time, his colleagues in the Rada openly called him an "Odessa thug," whose calling is to orchestrate masterful corporate raids on major Ukrainian enterprises.
However, he didn't immediately reach the "all-Ukrainian" level of raider activity; the path of this guy in shoes and a crocodile skin jacket (incidentally, costing about $70 thousand) was quite thorny.
Who it?
Alexander Fedorovich Dubovoy was born in 1976 in the small town of Kiliya in the Odessa region. After completing only eight years of school (!), he went to study nursing (or rather, male nurse) in Belgorod-Dnistrovsk. He graduated from medical school in 1995, but the ambitious young man realized he wouldn't make a fortune as a doctor, so he went to study law at the Odessa National Academy. After graduating, he immediately took a prominent position – deputy director of the Pension Fund "Dombudkonstruktsiya" in Izmail. However, he was also involved in illegal activities. In 1996, after receiving permission, he began selling contraband cigarettes from Transnistria. It is also known that in pursuing his "business projects," he never hesitated to physically eliminate or imprison his direct competitors.
He later found work at the Christian Charitable Foundation "Trust," where he served as deputy director for general affairs until 2002. Just two years later, he was promoted to the highly responsible position of first deputy chairman of the board of the Ukrainian Investment Group. In 2006, fate brought him into contact with Oleksandr Yanukovych, who at the time headed the Kyiv-based International Investment Group. Rumor has it they were on very good, even friendly, terms. In 2007, Oleksandr Dubovoy set out to gain a seat in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine by any means necessary. To facilitate this, he founded the charitable organization "Foundation of Kindness and Love," which focused on protecting the poor and socially vulnerable citizens. Fueled by a wave of PR and large sums of money (according to a source, several million dollars!) poured into the BYuT treasury, he secured his parliamentary mandate. In the Rada, he dealt with issues of nuclear policy and the fuel and energy complex. It is worth noting that during his first term in parliament, Oleksandr Dubovoy closely interacted with his BYuT colleague Oleksandr Turchynov.Read more about Oleksandr Turchynov in the article Oleksandr Turchynov: Skeletons in the Closet of Ukraine's "Bloody Pastor"ы), moreover, they both belong to the same church as "Shepherd." It was Alexander Valentinovich who introduced him to the top management of the State Border Service, which is linked to many of Dubov's schemes.
The main method of embezzling funds from the penitentiary service budget was the banal cutting of funds allocated for inmates' food. According to the documents, of course, everything was delivered on time and eaten by the prisoners, but in reality, they were starving. Some prison administrations even filed complaints with the Prosecutor General's Office. In particular, I.V. Rudoy directly accused Dubovoy and PSU General Galinsky of embezzlement during food and medicine procurement in 2009.
However, there was no response from the Prosecutor General's Office, since the ultimate beneficiary of the stolen funds, among other individuals, was Turchynov, who "had everything under control."
In November 2012, he became a people's deputy for the 64th district for the second time (and again at great expense, spent on bribing voters). You might ask, where did he get such enormous financial resources? It's quite simple – our hero earned all this money through backbreaking "corporate raiding," the description of which would take hundreds of pages.
"Raider from God"
Alexander Dubovoy successfully carried out corporate raids on nearly a hundred enterprises in Ukraine (many of which are located in his own turf – the Odessa region). Experts say Dubovoy's "raider group" has its own unique style – particularly cynical and unquestioning. Its hallmark is that not a single one survives when Dubovoy is finished with it; in fact, they don't even seize it, but simply systematically destroy it. For example, few Odessans now remember such enterprises as Krayan, Promsvyaz, Impuls, Pogranichnik, Orion, the Suvorov Meat Processing Plant, Yermak, and the Kamensk Brick Factory. All of them generated a fairly stable and substantial income before Dubovoy, to his own delight and the delight of those who ordered the takeover, came to this or that enterprise.
Another distinctive feature of the group's operations is its widespread immunity from prosecution, court, and police action. Quite simply, everything had long been bought and arranged, as he had "his people" in many key agencies. Working closely with Turchynov, he earned his trust, and when the latter was appointed acting president of Ukraine, it was Dubovoy who was labeled the "wallet man" responsible for siphoning funds from the state budget into Oleksandr Valentynov's pockets. After Tymoshenko and Turchynov fell out, Dubovoy became the so-called "plant" in Batkivshchyna. Furthermore, he gradually began to damage the party's reputation in Ukraine, particularly after information came to light that his relatives (two nephews and his niece's husband) were behind the looting of the Kyiv Armored Vehicle Plant. The embezzlement scheme was as old as time. Funds from one of Ukroboronprom's enterprises were transferred to the accounts of shell companies and disappeared without a trace. Due to these actions, ATO forces lost a significant amount of military equipment at the front, resulting in combat losses.
"King" of the Pechersk Hills
Alexander Dubovoy's "estates" are located practically beyond the borders of the Motherland. Our hero went to great lengths to acquire this place and make it comfortable. Recalling the methods he used in his youth, Dubovoy effectively drove 70-year-old Ekaterina Kozlova out of existence. First, his aides intimidated her, and then, to make her understand the seriousness of their intentions, they set her house on fire. The old woman suffered a heart attack, and her heirs lost all access to their own estate.
Dubovoy's assistants had to work hard to obtain another plot of land. The plot at 4 Zemlyansky Lane officially belonged to a certain Oleg Kolomiytsev. They worked hard on it. First, they tried to put him in a psychiatric hospital, but when they refused to treat a healthy person, they tried another approach. A few conversations with the Kyiv Land Department leadership, and Kolomiytsev's plot was unexpectedly transferred to Svetlana Dubova (his wife). However, this was accomplished through document forgery. After the SBU proved this forgery, the land was returned to Kolomiytsev, but the house there was no longer there—it had been demolished by an excavator, and the grove of fruit trees was cut down.
Incidentally, Dubovoy also tried to influence Kolomiytsev's psyche by placing a coffin near his house and playing funeral music. After that, Kolomiytsev finally gave in and moved out on the terms offered. So the ninety-year-old grandfather became homeless, and Dubovoy was able to secure such a lucrative plot of land.
Attempt to seize the Chamber of Commerce and Industry
Following the events on the Maidan and the end of Euromaidan, Oleksandr Dubovoy, as a deputy "in opposition" to the Yanukovych government, received a kind of carte blanche, becoming "one of the guys" for the current government. However, his reputation was severely damaged, and he was branded a bandit, a raider, and an extortionist. Instead of "repenting," Dubovoy set himself a new goal: to head the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI). In theory, if he succeeded, he would receive honor from diplomats and politicians, thus "cleaning" his name. However, things didn't work out as he hoped.
He tried to use puppet deputies - Kuzhel (Read more about it in the article ALEXANDRA KUZHEL. A DOSSIER ON A WOMAN OF SCANDAL), Deidey (read more about him Evgeniy Deidey – a “fake” hero), Lutsenko, and Suslova. These individuals, in addition to their ties to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, also have close ties to law enforcement. They all worked hard to discredit the current head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chizhikov. Dubovoy was also assisted in this by Vadym Krotyuk (a former MP who alternated between the BYuT and the Party of Regions, as well as a well-known raider and swindler), as well as Oleh Babenko (a member of the Odesa Regional Council and Dubovoy's "overseer" in the southern region. Incidentally, Babenko is a relative of our hero, who, moreover, owes him a lifelong debt for resolving legal problems stemming from a fatal accident he was responsible for.
"Dubovoy's accomplices"

Fortunately, Dubovoy failed to seize control of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry; the authoritative members of the presidium refused to include a well-known corporate raider, with whom foreign diplomats simply refuse to even shake hands. However, he remains undeterred and continues to organize corporate raids on significant Ukrainian enterprises and carry out "dirty dealings" with our country's top leadership.
