According to information published by the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU), permission to acquire a controlling stake and more than half of the votes on the board of the financial institution First Investment Bank was granted to a Russian citizen. At the time of the acquisition, the bank ranked 57th among 109 operating Ukrainian banks by total assets (1,11 billion hryvnias).
The statement verbatim reads as follows: "Permission has been granted to an individual, a citizen of the Russian Federation, to acquire shares in PJSC First Investment Bank (Kyiv), which will provide a majority stake in excess of 50% of the votes in the company's highest governing body." As of March 2015, the assets were owned by Alexander Kleshchuk (38,07%), Zalina Tskhovrebova (9,2%), Alexander Shandruk (9,05%), and Mikhail Spektor (4,86%).
