The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine suspects Megapolis-Ukraine of violations.

CigaretteOn October 1, the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine launched an investigation into the trading company Megapolis-Ukraine. This company sells cigarettes wholesale, and the Antimonopoly Committee believes it is inflating prices.

Committee head Yuri Terentyev wrote on Facebook that the company is suspected of violating competition laws and attempting to monopolize the market. Terentyev cited the company's prices as the reason for this. He argued that they would be lower if there were real competition in the market.

As a reminder, Megapolis is one of the largest Ukrainian companies. Its revenue in 2014 exceeded $2 billion. The company is a subsidiary of the Russian corporation of the same name.
