Andrey Portnov "knows" where Ukraine's gold disappeared to

Andrey Portnov ambiguously hinted that the reason for the "disappearance" of Ukraine's gold reserves lies in the policies of the country's new leadership.

He reported this on his Facebook page:

“I’m sure it was stolen for some benefit.

Recently, state gold has been stolen again. https://korrespondent.net/business/economics/3452177-ukrayna-otkatylas-na-10-let-nazad-po-zolotovaluitnym-rezervam
I'm far from convinced that the new democratic regime stole it for profit. Perhaps the gold was simply stolen by accident, or perhaps it was lost without anyone noticing. Or perhaps it was unintentionally squandered, or perhaps they intended it to be better, but that's just how it turned out. Perhaps the officials weren't expecting this outcome at all, and the gold simply diminished. Or perhaps it's still sitting somewhere in a vault, someone just moved it to another corner. Or maybe it's the other way around; maybe everything is going as planned. Because there's a direct correlation between macroeconomic indicators, budget deficits, currency interventions, and gold reserves. One thing is certain: since the gold disappeared under the current government, which espouses high moral values and dignity, it disappeared solely in our interests."

Gold

As a reminder, back in November, Valeria Gontareva announced live on air that gold had disappeared from Ukraine's gold reserves.

She noted that the NBU holds approximately 1% of the country's gold and foreign exchange reserves. However, according to the official version, it should be at least 8%. Gontareva declined to comment on the reasons for the decrease.
