The Anti-Corruption Bureau is not yet a problem for corrupt officials.

anti-corruption bureauThe Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine begins its work on October 1, 2015. Around 70 Anti-Corruption Bureau detectives will be on duty, but their work has not yet had any impact on reducing the number of corrupt officials. This is due to the fact that an anti-corruption prosecutor's office has not yet been formed in Ukraine, and an anti-corruption prosecutor has not yet been appointed. This was revealed in an interview with NABU head Artem Sytnyk for Deutsche Welle.

Sytnyk expressed hope that the anti-corruption prosecutor will be appointed by the end of October 2015. The chief anti-corruption official also noted that, starting October 1, his bureau, comprised of analysts and detectives, will only begin to develop some materials.

The head of NABU announced that all officials will be under his agency's control: the prime minister, governors and their deputies, as well as all ministers and officials of the first and second categories.

Artem Sytnyk noted that the priority for the department entrusted to him will be establishing order in the sphere of public procurement and the judiciary.

However, there are media reports that President Poroshenko announced the appointment of an anti-corruption prosecutor no earlier than November 2015, and the formation of the entire apparatus of the anti-corruption prosecutor will not be completed until 2015.

It was previously reported that the average salary for NABU detectives would be 31 hryvnias.
