The Kyiv Court of Appeals has granted permission to hear the case against Judge Serhiy Vovk of Kyiv's Pechersky District Court on the merits of the charges. Deputy Prosecutor General Vladislav Kutsenko announced this.

The prosecutor noted that the highest court overturned the Vyshgorod District Court's decision to return the indictment against Vovk to the prosecutor's office for correction of deficiencies.

Kutsenko stated that in connection with the newly adopted decision, the Prosecutor General's Office appealed to the High Qualification Commission with a demand to remove Sergei Vovk from his duties.

As a reminder, Judge Vovk is suspected of making a knowingly unlawful decision, depriving its rightful owner of property. The notorious Judge Vovk is also known for presiding over the case against current MP Yuriy Lutsenko and sentencing him to four years in prison.

On March 4, 2015, Parliament stripped Vovk of his immunity. However, in February 2016, the judge returned to his duties.
