Austrians announce purchase of Ukrainian gas station network from Lukoil

The investment company AMIC Energy Management GmbH (Austria) acquired the Ukrainian network of petrol stations from Lukoil (Russia) solely in the interests of its shareholders.
The company's managing director, Gunther Mayer, announced this at a press conference in Kyiv on Friday, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
“The purchase is not fictitious; it is not being carried out in the interests of LUKOIL or LUKOIL shareholders… I can confirm that the assets are being purchased exclusively in the interests of the three AMIC shareholders and with their own funds,” he said.
Mayer recalled that the owners of AMIC are Johannes Kloetzl-Norberg (50% of shares), Manfred Kunze (40%) and Heinz Zernts (10%).
According to the head of the Austrian company, the deal is currently awaiting approval by the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine and could close in October or November.
As Mayer noted, Lukoil gas stations in Ukraine will be rebranded as AMIC, Robert Novek will be appointed as the network's head, and the existing management will be offered positions with the new employer.
In the future, AMIC is prepared to consider new asset acquisition options in Eastern Europe, with a potential investment amount in the double-digits (in millions of dollars), plus the required loans. However, AMIC is not interested in Rosneft's network of gas stations in Ukraine.
As a reminder, Lukoil President Vagit Alekperov previously announced the sale of the Ukrainian gas station network to Austria's AMIC for $300 million.
Today, Lukoil's network in Ukraine consists of approximately 240 stations; the company previously sold its gas stations in Crimea to the structures of fugitive Sergei Kurchenko.
