On January 6, based on the results of a tender, the management of the motor pool of the Verkhovna Rada's Administration Department signed a contract with Prosto-Strakhovanie OJSC for mandatory vehicle insurance. The contract amounted to 113 hryvnias, according to Nashi Groshi.
Prosto-Insurance is owned by the Cypriot company Astrov Limited, whose director is Igor Krasheninnikov. Until recently, a quarter of the shares were held by the Kyiv-based company RESO-Inter. The beneficiaries are Sergey and Nikolay Sarkisov, the heads of RESO-Garantiya in Russia.
Last year, 171 vehicles were insured; this year, only 169. The 2006 LAZ 4207 buses and the 2011 Toyota Highlander were removed from the list. However, two Toyota Land Cruisers were added – a 2003 model 100 and a 2015 model 200.
Interestingly, in 2012, the list included as many as 217 vehicles, including an armored Mercedes-Benz S 600 B (2003 model). Speaker of Parliament Volodymyr Groysman's motorcade includes such a car; journalists captured it in a photo this summer. However, the Mercedes is not listed among the Verkhovna Rada's fleet. We also previously reported that the parliamentary motor pool had previously purchased tires for this vehicle for almost 500 hryvnias each.
