The press service of Rinat Akhmetov's SCM Group reports that United Minerals Group (UMG), a subsidiary of SCM Group, has acquired Donkerampromsyrie, a company developing the Toretskoye refractory and refractory clay deposit in the Donetsk region, from Italian tile manufacturer Marazzi Group. The transaction amount was not disclosed. The acquired asset's clay reserves are estimated at 4,5 million tons.

The Toretskoye clay deposit is located in the Dobropillya district of the Donetsk region, in territory controlled by Kyiv. Despite this, it remains at risk. In the spring, militants seized the administrative building of the Dobropillyaugol association, and in the summer, they shelled the outskirts of Dobropillya with BM-21 Grad rockets.

Clay from the Toretskoye deposit was sent to Russia to the Oryol plant producing Kerama Marazzi tiles.

Marazzi Group is a ceramic coatings manufacturer with annual revenues exceeding €800 million. In 2013, it was acquired by Mohawk Industries for €1,17 billion.

As some media outlets note, after purchasing the Donkerampromsyrye Company, Akhmetov has firmly established himself in the Italian and Russian markets.

United Minerals Group (UMG) is one of Europe's largest commodity holding companies, operating in clay mining, flux-dolomite mining, and other promising commodity sectors. All of UMG's clay mining assets are located in the Donetsk region, in territory controlled by the Ukrainian government. The quarries being developed are located in the city of Druzhkivka, as well as in the Sloviansk and Dobropillya districts.
