Forward Bank, a Russian oligarch, wants to challenge the NBU fine.

111832Forward Bank (formerly Russian Standard Bank) has filed a lawsuit against the National Bank. The lawsuit seeks to overturn the NBU's January 2016 decision to impose a fine on Forward Bank. The fine was allegedly imposed due to risky activities, according to Finbalance.

The following are excerpts from the audit report of Kyivaudit LLC:

“As a result of the audit procedures performed, it was established that the amount of liquidity risk is moderate, the direction of risk is growing, and the quality of liquidity risk management requires improvement.”
"Considering the specific nature of the bank's activities (consumer lending to individuals) and the continued impoverishment of Ukraine's population, it can be assumed that the quality of the loan portfolio will continue to deteriorate in the future," the auditor concluded in the document.

As a reminder, Bank Forward is controlled by Russian oligarch Rustam Tariko. His company, which is part of the bank, recently defaulted.
