A 58% stake in Unison Bank, which is linked to the family of fugitive Ukrainian Minister of Finance Klymenko, will be acquired by the Cyprus offshore company Unistrada Invest. Unistrada Invest intends to purchase 7775372 shares of the bank, each with a par value of UAH 25. The total transaction value is UAH 194,384 million. This will give the Cyprus offshore company a 58% stake in the financial institution.
Currently, the Cyprus company Unistrada Invest, which is owned by Bruce Littman, owns 9,44% of the bank's shares,
According to Ukrainian media, this will be the second resale of the bank's shares in the past year. In September 2014, the financial institution's shares were purchased by 11 legal entities from DP Capital Ltd and MCHL Finance. The latter were controlled by Anton Klymenko, the brother of a former minister during the Yanukovych era. However, banking experts argue that in Ukraine, a resale of shares does not necessarily mean a change in ownership.
As of April 1, 2015, according to the NBU, the bank ranked 88th in terms of assets (743,5 million hryvnias) among 133 operating banks in Ukraine.
