At the press center "Ukrinform" A conference was held at which it was announced that businessman and former MP Petro Dyminsky, with the help of his people, is trying to seize the protected lands of the Maidan hunting and fishing society in the Lviv region.
According to the association's chairman, Mykola Kovalchuk, the Maidan hunting and fishing society has belonged to the Western Region of Ukraine Military Hunters and Fishermen's Society (OVOR ZRU) since 1946. The farm's base was built on land granted to the society by a decree of the Council of Ministers of Ukraine. Over the course of 70 years, avid hunters and fishermen built a series of ponds, a hotel, a residential building, and other recreational facilities here. Several years ago, local oligarch Petro Dyminsky, former MP and president of FC Karpaty, set his sights on the entire property. Since then, legal proceedings have ensued over the ownership of the forest lands, which comprise nearly 39 hectares.
According to Kovalchuk, the Lviv Regional Council supports hunters and fishermen and, by its decision, officially assigned hunting grounds to the OVOR ZRU. However, it is currently powerless against legal arbitrariness. The military prosecutor's office and the administrative court are on the side of oligarch Dyminsky.
Pyotr Dyminsky and his companies have already seized 18 hectares of a lake where fishermen bred juvenile fish. Dyminsky fenced off the lake with an artificial island and built a huge estate on it. Kovalchuk also reported that part of the OVOR ZRU lands is surrounded by barbed wire and patrolled by camouflaged representatives of a private security firm. The guards have already told local residents that they can only enter the forest to pick mushrooms and berries upon presentation of their passports.
Activists are asking the Prosecutor General to address this issue and put an end to the lawlessness perpetrated by Pyotr Dyminsky and his agents. Activists and local residents also stated that if their request is not heeded, they are determined to act. The "little green men" and their owner, Dyminsky, will be forcibly evicted from the land.
As a reminder, Petro Dyminskyi is a businessman and honorary president of FC Karpaty. He was a member of parliament of Ukraine in the fourth convocation. The media has dubbed him the "Galician oligarch" and Lviv's "gray cardinal." He is considered the richest man in Western Ukraine. In 2008, the newspaper Kommentarii estimated Dyminskyi's net worth at $610 million. Dyminskyi's main assets are a stake in the oil products distribution company Western Oil Group (owner of the WOG gas station chain), where his partners include Igor Yeremeyev and Stepan IvahivHe also owns a chain of leisure and entertainment establishments, the Grand Hotel, the Grand Club Sofia entertainment complex in central Lviv, the Grand Resort country hotel complex, and the Split-Karpaty disco club. Dyminskyi also has interests in metallurgy, banking, and road construction. Furthermore, Dyminskyi is believed to own numerous properties in Lviv and the surrounding area. In 2012, experts at Korrespondent magazine included the businessman, with a net worth of $90 million, in the "Golden Hundred" ranking of the richest Ukrainians, ranking him 75th.
