During a Kyiv City Council session, Volodymyr Bondarenko, the Kyiv City State Administration's chief of staff, stated that the Kyiv city budget had lost UAH 319 million due to the actions of several utility company managers. Thirty-one utility company directors were dismissed, and 27 criminal cases were opened as a result.
Based on the results of 52 audits alone, it was discovered that Kyiv's budget had been short-received by UAH 84,2 million in previous periods. A total of UAH 319 million in financial discipline violations were identified. Bondarenko also added that the main violations were found in the departments of urban development, transport infrastructure, and at certain facilities of the education and healthcare departments.
As a reminder, inspections began on July 1 and are still ongoing. Currently, the Kyiv City State Administration's activities have been inspected for 2013 and the first two quarters of 2014. Based on these inspections, 27 criminal proceedings have already been opened.
Earlier, the prosecutor's office reported that officials from the Directorate of Restoration and Renovation Works embezzled more than 1,6 million hryvnias during the construction of the Alley of Military Glory in Kyiv's Eternal Glory Park.
