Diamond prosecutor Korniets will choose an anti-corruption prosecutor.

The commission for the selection of the anti-corruption prosecutor will include, among others, former deputy prosecutor of the Kyiv region, Oleksandr Korniets.

The piquancy of the situation lies in the fact that Korniets is accused of extorting a bribe on an especially large scale. However, he is not the only "interesting" character. The second is First Deputy Prosecutor General Yuriy Sevruk, who has cast doubt on the prosecutorial competition itself.

As a reminder, Korniets was previously detained along with Vladimir Shapakin on suspicion of extortion. During the search, approximately $500 and 35 bags of diamonds were found. The court set his bail at 3,2 million hryvnias, which the prosecutor paid and he was released on July 8.

On July 16, Korniets was fired from his post as prosecutor.

It should be noted that the Chairman of the Board of the Anti-Corruption Action Center, Vitaly Shabunin, stated that the Prosecutor General's Office is attempting to gain control of the Anti-Corruption Bureau and expressed hope that the seven parliamentary members of the commission will be able to balance the composition.
