SBU officers in Odesa detained Mykola Rudyk, acting first deputy head of the Ovidiopol district state administration. He was arrested while attempting to accept a bribe.
It turns out he received $5 for coordinating the land deal. Other sources say the sum was as much as $25.
It's worth noting that Rudyk has recently become the district's effective leader, following Igor Litvinyuk's resignation. Most interestingly, he is part of the regional governor's team, Mikheil Saakashvili. The regional governor himself has yet to comment on his ally's flagrant violation of the law.
