In a report on the 112 Ukraine television channel, Yegor Sobolev, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Combating Corruption, stated that the issue of "fake" ATO participants is currently a pressing issue. He explained that the law on the cleansing of power stipulates that individuals with ATO participant status are not subject to the lustration procedure.

Sobolev clarified that the main problem today is that officials are simply shameless swindlers trying to obtain this status. According to the MP, this is due to poor oversight of compliance with the "Law on the Purification of Power."

Sobolev recalled the incident involving former Deputy Minister of Regional Development, Construction, and Housing and Public Utilities Dmitry Isaenko, whom parliamentarians forced to write a statement renouncing his ATO participant status because he allegedly did not participate in the fighting.

"We exposed this shameless deputy minister of construction. He himself said, 'I'm a nobody, I'll stop calling myself a veteran.' The next day, the prime minister fired him. There's no need to change the laws; we just need to start implementing them," Sobolev concluded.

It was also reported that the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Preventing and Combating Corruption submitted a request for a list of all government officials who were granted ATO participant status.
