The names, surnames, and patronymics of those who held the positions of Mykolaiv Oblast Prosecutor and his deputies during Yanukovych's presidency are classified information and are not subject to disclosure. This was stated in a response to an information request from NikVesti editor-in-chief Oleh Derenyuga to the Mykolaiv Oblast Prosecutor's Office.
The information request addressed to Mykolaiv Oblast Prosecutor Volodymyr Komashko asked for the first names, last names, and patronymics of individuals who held the positions of regional prosecutor, first deputy, and deputies from February 25, 2010, to February 22, 2014—the period specified by the Law of Ukraine “On the Purification of Power.”
Olga Levitskaya, senior prosecutor for access to public information at the regional prosecutor's office, argued that the journalist's request was denied because she was seeking personal information about individuals, which could only be disclosed with their consent. However, the request specifically requested information related to the performance of government functions by these individuals, which cannot be classified.
Regarding current employees of the Mykolaiv Oblast Prosecutor's Office who held leadership positions under Yanukovych, Olga Levitskaya refused to publish their names and surnames, citing the provisions of the "Procedure for Processing Personal Data of Employees of the Prosecutor's Office in the Personal Data Database 'Personnel of the Prosecutor's Office,'" approved by order of the Prosecutor General.
Journalists note that, in violation of the Law of Ukraine "On Access to Public Information," the Mykolaiv prosecutor's office concealed the names of individuals who held leadership positions during the Yanukovych presidency.
