The Darnitskaya Thermal Power Plant (TPP) dumped toxic ash on Lake Goryachka in Kyiv.

The Darnytsia Thermal Power Plant almost completely filled Lake Goryachka in Kyiv with toxic coal ash, according to an investigation by EcoMaidan activists.

Nameless

It has been reported that toxic substances are being released into the environment from the thermal power plant without any permits. As a result of this activity, Lake Goryachka has been almost completely destroyed. It is known that the lake's former location is now a vacant lot, where the wind carries toxic ash—the waste from the thermal power plant. Thus, toxic substances are spreading throughout the most populated areas of Kyiv's left bank and the surrounding region. Just a few hundred meters away, a new residential complex has sprung up and a kindergarten is operating. One of the co-founders of Automaidan, Oleksiy Gritsenko, wrote on social media that "this is essentially a genocide of Kyiv residents and the destruction of the few remaining natural resources in Kyiv."

As a reminder, the Darnytsia Thermal Power Plant is operated by Ecostandart CJSC. In 2010, the State Property Fund sold a 34,7% stake in Ecostandart CJSC to the offshore companies Introstyle Consult (UK) and Makshell Enterprises (British Virgin Islands). These companies are owned by the Technova Corporation, which is owned by Oleh Yakovenko and former MP Anatoliy Shkriblyak.
