The Verkhovna Rada's Anti-Corruption Committee demands that Arsen Avakov be removed from his post as Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs. Sergei Chebotar, and the Prosecutor General's Office will conduct an investigation into the incident that occurred the day before near the Chebotar family estate in Lesniki.
On May 5, 2015, journalists from the ZIK TV channel's "Nashi Groshi" program discovered that the family of Arsen Avakov's deputy, Sergei Chebotar, does own a plot of land and several houses in Lesniki.
Journalist Denis Bigus wrote on his Facebook page:
"State property deeds clearly confirm that the land beneath the house in Lesniki (and the houses themselves, of which there are several) are registered to the daughter of the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Sergei Chebotar. Incidentally, the land was given to the daughter as a gift."
According to the documentation, the land plot is registered to Oksana Sergeyevna Chebotar. Journalists presented this package of documents regarding the ownership of the land and houses by Chebotar's daughter to Arsen Avakov. However, the Minister of Internal Affairs did not respond to this information in any way. In fact, he pretended not to see the documents and not to hear the journalists' comments.
As a reminder, on May 5, 2015, ZIK TV journalists filming a manor house in Lesniki, built in a protected area, were attacked by unknown young men. They stole the camera and beat the cameraman. It was later determined that a white Toyota Camry with license plate number 5555 had entered the manor house. This car is known to belong to Chebotar's wife.
On the evening of May 5, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Sergei Chebotar disseminated information that the house does not belong to him and that he has no connection whatsoever to the cottage or land in Lesniki, and that journalists are seeking to discredit him.
