Eighteen people's deputies registered a draft resolution proposing the dismissal of the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Arsen Avakov, from his post.
The explanatory note to the bill states that Avakov appointed several people to senior positions in the Ministry of Internal Affairs who discredit the agency, thereby ignoring the law "On the Purification of Power." The deputies also stated their dissatisfaction with the progress of the investigation into corruption crimes committed during Viktor Yanukovych's presidency and the events on the Maidan in 2014.
It's important to note that this isn't the first such decree. There were attempts to remove Avakov from power after May 13 of this year. The reason was a corruption scandal involving Avakov's deputy, Sergei Chebotarev.
The current resolution is being actively promoted by MP Oleh Barna, who initiated the signature drive for Avakov's resignation. The Ministry of Internal Affairs has not yet commented on this initiative.
