Leonid Antonenko, director of the NBU's regulatory department, resigned from the National Bank amid controversy. The former department head claimed that NBU management is completely ignoring the reforms he proposed, thereby hindering the development of the banking sector in Ukraine. Antonenko himself announced this on his Facebook page.
The NBU department director also announced that the head of the Bank Licensing and Registration Department, Oleksandr Bevz, had decided to leave the National Bank along with him.
As a reminder, Leonid Antonenko was appointed head of the National Bank's department in January 2015. Prior to this, Antonenko held senior positions at leading law firms and had extensive experience reforming financial institutions.
