During an online press conference at the Maidan Press Center, Ukrspirt Director Mykhailo Labutin stated that a criminal syndicate consisting of people from Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk and former "family overseers" was behind the attempt to seize control of the Ukrspirt enterprise.
Thus, Labutin openly named the names of the "overseers" Alexei Chebotarov, Andrei Akimenko, and the current deputy head of the State Fiscal Service, Viktor Khomenko.
"All the alcohol written off by the company Tekhinservis (40 million liters in 2012), which is affiliated with MP Ivanchuk, caused 3,5 billion hryvnias in damage to the country's budget. This was under Yanukovych, but the people who organized it, by a strange coincidence, were Yatsenyuk's MPs."
Mikhail Labutin stated that before his arrival at Ukrspirt, most operating distilleries produced significant volumes of illegal alcohol. The exact amount is anyone's guess. Over three years, Ukrspirt's legal production has decreased by almost 4 million decaliters, and the production of legal liquors and vodkas has also dropped significantly. However, consumption hasn't declined, but rather increased significantly. It's logical to assume that a proportional share of the market has gone underground. According to estimates from the Ukrvodka association, the shadow alcohol market in Ukraine accounted for approximately 40% last year.
Now, according to Labunin, the actions of Fiscal General Volodymyr Khomenko are facilitating the return to Ukrspirt of the schemes of Alexey Chebotarev, the former "wallet of Interior Minister Zakharchenko," who is currently hiding in Russia from Ukrainian justice. But for these schemes to work, Ukrspirt's top management needed to be replaced.
Labutin emphasized that he does not intend to give up and demands a fair and transparent investigation into the situation surrounding the state-owned enterprise Ukrspirt.
