It was later revealed that the detainee was Dmitry Karchuk, director of the CEO Club Ukraine business club. According to German investigators, he allegedly arrived at a warehouse in Germany in 2024 by truck, used forged shipping documents, and took a batch of electric bicycles, which were never delivered, according to Fakty.
However, the president of CEO Club Ukraine, Serhiy Gaidaichuk wrote A Facebook post stated that Dmytro Karchuk was in Ukraine at the time. Gaidaichuk suspects that the director's personal information may have been stolen and used by criminals. "We are preparing letters of recommendation from people who have known Dmytro for many years, worked with him, and can attest to his integrity, reputation, and responsibility. We are also recruiting people in Poland who are willing to stand surety for him," Gaidaichuk wrote, adding that he is in constant contact with the Ukrainian consul.

A Polish court is currently deciding whether to extradite Karczuk to Germany. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported hromadske reported that the case is under review, and the consulate in Lublin has already contacted Polish authorities with a request to visit the detainee.
The Ukrainian side expects immediate access of consular officials to Karchuk to clarify all the circumstances of the case, which has already caused significant resonance in the business community.
