On September 1, 2015, SBU officers raided the offices of Luxoft, a large IT company in Dnipropetrovsk. There have been no official media comments on this incident yet, but according to Twitter posts, the sixth floor, where the company's office is located, has been cordoned off. Some Luxoft employees are reportedly working from home due to the incident.
It's not yet clear why the security operations are being carried out at the IT company, but one theory is that they are suspected of terrorism. Employees who were in the office when the SBU officers arrived were locked in the cafeteria. Law enforcement officers demanded access to the server room. As Viktor Valeev, head of the IT Ukraine Association, noted, the actions of the security forces are unrelated to Luxoft's business operations. This incident is also currently under discussion by the relevant Verkhovna Rada committee.
The company has not yet commented on the search. As of 1:20 PM on September 13, all company employees had been released. SBU officers used a crowbar to pry open the server room doors.
Luxoft is one of the largest outsourcing companies in Ukraine. As of late August 2015, the IT company ranked third among the largest developers. Luxoft previously announced that it would relocate approximately 500 software developers from Ukraine and Russia to several EU countries due to political risks.
Previously, searches were conducted at IT companies Plarium and NIC.ua.
