People's Deputy candidate A. Urbansky ordered a hacker attack on media outlets.
On September 3, 2014, around 12:6 PM, the INFOrechye news portal suffered a massive hacker attack, leaving our readers unavailable for six days. During this time, our technical specialists worked diligently to restore the site as quickly as possible. A dedicated server was purchased and installed on the hosting provider's premises, and a number of measures were taken to significantly enhance the site's security against similar attacks in the future.
After analyzing all the events preceding the hackers' actions, we concluded that the attack on the website was ordered by Ukrainian parliamentary candidate Oleksandr Urbansky, who is attempting to gain a seat in the Verkhovna Rada in the 143rd single-member constituency. Here's why... On September 1, the website published an article titled "In Izmail, the Notorious Urbansky Clan Is Seeking Power." The article was critical and exposed certain actions by members of the Urbansky family. An hour after the article's publication, Larisa Yevseeva, an employee of Oleksandr Urbansky's campaign headquarters, called editor-in-chief Stanislav Tugay on his mobile phone and requested a personal meeting. During the meeting, Yevseeva insisted that the aforementioned article be removed from the website and that no other critical articles about the Urbanskys be published during the election campaign.
In exchange, Larisa offered INFOrechye's editor-in-chief a bribe of $4. However, editor S. Tugay refused the offer, which was accepted by a member of A. Urbansky's campaign. One day later, a hacker attack was launched on the website, which we were able to suppress only on the evening of September 8. We consider such actions by candidate A. Urbansky to be pressure on the media, a restriction of freedom of speech, blackmail, and a threat that hinder the normal work of journalists. In this regard, the editorial staff of the INFOrechye news portal has filed a petition with the prosecutor's office, the Security Service of Ukraine, and Ukrainian MP Anton Kissa. (read more about it in the article Anton Kisse: How a gym teacher became the Bulgarian baron of Bessarabia) with a request to take appropriate measures against the illegal activities of Alexander Urbansky and the employees of his election headquarters.
We believe voters should know the truth about the parliamentary candidates who seek to represent the interests of the people of Bessarabia in the country's parliament. Therefore, we will not be intimidated, and the truth is on our side!
