Kyivenergo, a company controlled by Rinat Akhmetov's DTEK holding, intends to raise heating prices again. This time, by 13%, to UAH 742,53 per gigacalorie, including VAT.

The National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities (NKREKU) has already approved the tariff projections. The new tariff will finance the 2016 investment program in the amount of approximately 244 million hryvnias.

Kyiv residents currently pay 657,24 hryvnias per gigacalorie with a heat meter. Without one, the rate is 16,14 hryvnias per square meter, which is higher overall. In 2014, the price was raised to 375 hryvnias per gigacalorie, and even higher last spring. According to KyivEnergo, this is due to the rising dollar exchange rate, but this decision has sparked a backlash from public organizations.

The only nuance that could "slow down" the process of increasing tariffs is the fact that tariffs cannot be increased without the consent of the Kyiv authorities.
