Investigators from the Poltava Regional Directorate of the State Bureau of Investigation have completed a pre-trial investigation into the former deputy head of the Kharkiv Oblast National Police Department and the lead engineer of one of the Kharkiv Oblast National Police Department departments, who systematically recalculated budget funds for one of the enterprises for fictitious repairs and maintenance of official vehicles, reports press office GBR.
Law enforcement officials discovered that in 2018, the deputy head of the National Police Directorate and his subordinate approved and submitted completion certificates to management for signature, knowing that no repair work had been carried out.
"As a result of the illegal actions of law enforcement officers, budget funds in the amount of over 850,000 hryvnias were embezzled.
Thus, the former police officers are accused of embezzlement of property through abuse of office, committed on an especially large scale (Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for up to 12 years, with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions for up to 3 years, and with confiscation of property," the statement said.
