Former Party of Regions MP Volodymyr Saldo is running for mayor of Kherson and a seat on the Kherson City Council. His candidacy has already been registered with the Central Election Commission.
The decision approving his eligibility for the election was made on October 14. It's important to note that the former Party of Regions member's nomination had already been embroiled in controversy, as the Kherson City Electoral Commission had denied Saldo registration. In response, the Central Election Commission dissolved the commission itself.
The new commission also refused to register Saldo, but the Central Election Commission still pushed through the decision. The former member of the Party of Regions will run for the election as a candidate for the "Our Region" party.
Saldo had previously served as mayor of Kherson, and in 2014 he voted for the dictatorial “January 16 laws.”
