While patrolling the streets of Ivano-Frankivsk, National Police officers detained Ihor Khalamenda, nicknamed "Bura." The police patrol car reportedly overtook a Mercedes-Benz Gelandewagen SUV at high speed. Law enforcement officers attempted to catch up with and stop the vehicle. The pursuit lasted for half an hour and ended with the Mercedes SUV driving into a ditch outside the city.

The driver of the Mercedes-Benz turned out to be Ihor Khalamenda, a well-known Ivano-Frankivsk businessman and former city council member from the Party of Regions. The businessman confirmed that he had attempted to evade law enforcement. However, he refused to comply with the lawful demands of the police. The patrol officers then used "forced force" against him.

Igor Khalamenda is the owner of the city's central market and a former city council member from the Party of Regions.
