The Pechersky District Court released Petro Melnyk from house arrest. The capital's court rejected the Prosecutor General's Office investigators' motion to extend the former rector of the Irpen Tax Academy's pretrial detention, the Prosecutor General's Office press service reported.
In their petition, prosecutors asked the court to keep former rector Melnyk under house arrest, as he is suspected of embezzlement and misappropriation of state property and was caught accepting a bribe of over 100 hryvnias.
Let us recall that in July of this year, the Irpen court acquitted the former rector of the tax academy, Melnik.
At the beginning of October, information appeared that Mr. Melnik announced his intention to participate in local elections on social media. and is going to head the city of Irpen.
Meanwhile, reports emerged that Melnyk's house arrest has been extended until December 1. This was reported by the former rector's lawyer, Igor Cherezov.
