The Chief Military Prosecutor's Office has issued a notice of suspicion to the Hero of Ukraine, the former head of the Ukrspetsexport State Concern, who, in one instance of criminal activity, embezzled $7.428 million from the state concern. This was reported to UNN by the Prosecutor General's Office press service.
On January 21, the said official was charged under Part 5 of Article 191 (appropriation of another's property through abuse of official position, committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons, on an especially large scale) and Part 2 of Article 366 (forgery of official documents, resulting in grave consequences) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
On January 29 of this year, the investigative judge of the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv granted permission for his arrest and bringing him to court for consideration of the application of a preventive measure in the form of detention.
Also, at the request of the investigator, the court seized the suspect’s property: cash in the amount of 10 million US dollars in one of the Ukrainian banks and two Range Rovers with a total value of more than 2 million UAH.
