The court has completed preparatory proceedings for the prosecutor's office's civil suit against a former official. This is former Deputy Minister of Energy Alexander Kheilo.

The High Anti-Corruption Court has ordered a hearing on the merits of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office's claim against former Deputy Energy Minister Alexander Kheilo for civil asset forfeiture.
The High Anti-Corruption Court made this decision on August 7, Slovo i Delo reports.
As reported, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office requested the confiscation of the assets of former Deputy Energy Minister Oleksandr Kheilo. These assets include a residential building and a 0,0345-hectare plot of land located in the Kyiv region, valued at UAH 4,95 million. As the prosecutor stated, despite the fact that the actual ownership of these assets is registered to third parties, they were acquired in the interests and at the direction of Kheilo. Therefore, the official has the right, directly or indirectly, to perform actions with respect to such assets that are equivalent in content to exercising the right to dispose of them. At the same time, an analysis of the financial status of the official and his wife confirmed that it was impossible to acquire these properties with legitimate income.
"Close the preparatory proceedings. Schedule the case for a trial on the merits on September 1, 2026, at 12:30 PM in the HACC premises. Establish the following procedure for clarifying the circumstances of the case and examining evidence during the trial: clarify the circumstances cited by the parties to the case, both in their claims and in their objections; examine written and electronic evidence provided by the parties; question witnesses and the defendant, with their consent, as a witness ," the decision states.

According to investigators, Kheilo, in collusion with the head of a state-owned coal company and two others, requested an improper benefit of $500 from the head of another coal company located in the western region.
In exchange, he promised to ensure the safekeeping and use of valuable coal mining equipment from the mines of the state-owned enterprise Selidovugol at the state-owned enterprise Volynugol. The agreement was essentially about salvaging this equipment, as it was located near the combat zone. The funds were to be transferred in five installments of $100 at each meeting. They were withheld after receiving $300.
