The EU lifted some sanctions against Yanukovych and his entourage.

From fugitive President Viktor Yanukovych, his youngest son, and the former Prosecutor General of Ukraine Viktor Pshonka and his son Artem, the EU lifted some of the sanctions, writes A business.

This was reported on Online EU.

It is noted that the corresponding decision was made by the Council of the European Union. The sanctions expired on September 6, 2022, and Brussels decided not to renew them.

The European Union imposed these sanctions on March 5, 2014, for "misuse of Ukrainian public funds and abuse of office." They affect the aforementioned individuals' access to their assets in Europe.

"Following the Council's review, the entries of four persons for whom the application of restrictive measures expired on 6 September 2022, as well as information on their rights of defence and their right to effective judicial protection, should be removed from the annex to the sanctions list in accordance with EU Regulation No 208/2014," the statement said.

The document also notes that the names of former Ukrainian Prosecutor General Viktor Pshonka and his son Artem have been removed from the sanctions list.

It should be noted that fugitive President Viktor Yanukovych remains under EU sanctions—restrictive measures were imposed against him in August 2022 "for his role in undermining or posing a threat to the territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence of Ukraine, and the stability and security of the state."

Furthermore, the Ministry of Justice intends to file new lawsuits in September to seize the private assets of former President Viktor Yanukovych, the disgraced businessman Sergei Kurchenko, who fled Ukraine, and the Russian billionaire Oleg Deripaska.
