The Ukrainian Basketball Federation has accused the ABKU Superleague, which is linked to Igor Kolomoisky's Privat Group, of "basketball separatism."
The issue concerns an attempt by Kolomoisky's group to sell the rights to host the championship. The FBU statement stated that the Privat Group has the right to host the championship, but it will not have official status, meaning the contracts of the players and coaches participating in it will not be taken into account.
The statement also states that sports, and basketball in particular, should not become a platform for clarifying anyone's political, financial, or business interests.
It should be noted that the issue of acquiring the right to host the championship was raised at a meeting between FBU General Secretary Vladimir Drabikovsky and Super League Director Vladimir Poplavsky. It should also be noted that the Super League accused the FBU of unlawful actions: introducing a bid fee, which the Super League considers unjustified, and ignoring the interests of seven teams, as well as an official request for arbitration of Super League matches for the 2015/16 season.
Earlier, the Super League officially informed the FBU that it would hold its own championship.
