The Deposit Guarantee Fund will sue Ukrinbank shareholders.

UkrinbankThe Deposit Guarantee Fund (DGF) will file a lawsuit against the owners of Ukrinbank, the publication reports. ua-banker, referring to a message from the Deputy Director of the Federal State Fund for Guarantee Fund Andrey Olenchik.

The Fund's deputy director stated that since the court ruled to overturn Ukrinbank's liquidation, the Deposit Guarantee Fund must return the financial institution to its owners. However, the Fund has already paid out UAH 1,8 billion in guaranteed deposits to depositors. Since the funds were paid from the Ukrainian budget, after the bank is returned to its owners, the Deposit Guarantee Fund will immediately sue Ukrinbank's shareholders for the return of these funds.

As a reminder, on July 13, 2016, the Kyiv Administrative Court of Appeal overturned the liquidation of Ukrinbank. Ukrinbank's majority owner is Volodymyr Klymenko.
