However, a more curious fact about his biography is that The official was implicated in the so-called "Kurchenko case." The case concerns tax evasion in the amount of UAH 1,2 billion for the import of 800 tons of petroleum products into Ukraine.

At the time, the prosecutor's office noted that "one of the defendants in the scheme, Sergei Kostyuk, was found guilty and made a plea bargain. He was fined as punishment."
