The State Bureau of Investigation suspects a Ukrainian Armed Forces lieutenant colonel of embezzling nearly UAH 1,8 million worth of fuel for the Joint Forces Operation.

The State Bureau of Investigation officers reported suspicion to the lieutenant colonel, chief specialist of the Central Directorate for Provision of Fuel and Lubricants to the Rear of the Logistics Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reports press office GBR.

The State Bureau of Investigation in Kyiv established that the lieutenant colonel systematically supplied additional fuel to one of the military units of the Ukrainian Air Force through the territorial department for troop supply, which is subordinate to the Central Directorate and is stationed in Kharkiv.

“Thus, 60,000 kg of fuel, which was intended for the Joint Forces Operation zone, ended up at the permanent deployment point of a military unit in the Kyiv region, where the deputy commander sold it to gas stations.

Therefore, the state suffered losses of 1,766,180 hryvnias,” the report says.

If found guilty, he faces up to 12 years in prison.

A petition for pretrial detention has been filed with the Pechersky District Court.
