The State Bureau of Investigation has exposed officials who extorted money for appointments to positions at the State Food and Agriculture Organization of Ukraine.

The State Bureau of Investigation has uncovered a systemic corruption scheme among officials of the State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine, a joint-stock company founded by the state represented by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, reports press office GBR

“...the Corporation’s management has introduced a mechanism for extorting undue benefits from subordinate units for extending the tenure of their managers.

During the pre-trial investigation, a case was documented of the extortion by the head of one of the Corporation's departments of an illegal benefit in the amount of 35,000 US dollars from the director of one of the Company's branches in exchange for ensuring his continued tenure as director of the branch," the statement reads.

On March 12, 2021, following a series of coordinated investigative actions, investigators from the Main Investigative Directorate of the State Bureau of Investigation (GSU SBI) detained the aforementioned head of one of the departments of the State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine (SFGC) under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine for receiving an unlawful benefit in the amount of $35,000.
