The State Bureau of Investigation has completed a pre-trial investigation into a State Geological Survey official who caused 48 million hryvnias in damages.

The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) has completed a pre-trial investigation into the criminal case regarding the improper performance of duties by the former deputy chairman of the State Service of Geology and Subsoil of Ukraine, which resulted in damage to the state of 48 million hryvnias due to illegal mining, reports press office GBR.

It was established that due to the official's irresponsible attitude toward his official duties, one of the mining companies engaged in unauthorized use of mineral resources. As a result, 191,000 tons of minerals were illegally extracted while the mining permit was suspended.

The indictment has been sent to court.
