Gennady Chizhikov's entire career is connected to the Pshonka family. More than 20 years ago, Chizhikov served as the First Vice President of the Donetsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), and Olga Pshonka (Viktor Pshonka's wife) served as the President of the Donetsk CCI.

Then there was a change of positions: Chizhikov was the President of the Donetsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Olga Pshonka was the 1st Vice President.
Chizhikov has always been a titushka in business, implementing the policies of the Pshonka family.
Gennady Chizhikov became president of the Donetsk Chamber of Commerce and Industry under rather strange circumstances. Olga Pshonka "handed over" the position of CCI president to him, and she herself became first vice president. This exchange of positions occurred just as a state-owned building, the Palace of Culture of the Donetsk Precision Engineering Plant, was being transferred to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. At the time, Pshonka's husband served as the Donetsk Oblast Prosecutor. The current ownership of this building, as well as the ownership of several Donetsk customs terminals, is unknown. Both Pshonka and Chizhikov are known to be among their principal owners.
Historically, chambers of commerce and industry have provided a monopoly service: issuing certificates of origin for exported goods. Pshonka and Chizhikov are known to have issued such certificates for goods that were never exported, yet the bogus manufacturers regularly received VAT refunds. The volume of such transactions amounted to hundreds of millions of hryvnias.
Another successful joint venture for Pshonka and Chizhikov involved organizing corporate raids, including those of foreign and joint ventures, under the cover of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office and later the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine. They then, for a bribe, provided assistance in rescuing them. The height of cynicism was that Chizhikov, using the Chamber of Commerce and Industry's traditional international connections, sometimes even attempted to advertise this activity as charitable.
Even during the height of the Maidan protests, Pshonka and Chizhikov attempted to launch new mechanisms for plundering the state budget. For example, the Ministry of Economy and Trade of Ukraine has fully approved documents for the creation of a monopoly center based at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry to administer public procurement training exams to all public sector employees without exception.
Until the Pshonka family's hasty flight, Chizhykov and Olga Pshonka pursued a policy of installing loyalists in the governing bodies of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. A typical example is the appointment of Denis Anatolyevich Krasnikov to the position of Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Krasnikov is known to be a close friend of Artem Pshonka. He was a member of the "money laundering club," which, in addition to Artem Pshonka and Kurchenko, also included Oleksandr Yanukovych and other associates of the Family (https://goo.gl/muJsSa).
Chizhikov became the Honorary Consul of France in Donetsk solely by letter from the Ambassador, ignoring existing procedures at the request of Pshonka, the then-Foreign Minister Grishchenko. Moreover, he has been working and living in Kyiv for over a year, which violates all diplomatic regulations, as the consul in Donetsk should be based in Donetsk, not Kyiv! Our Ministry of Foreign Affairs must address such violations! We demand the lustration of corrupt diplomat Gennady Chizhikov!
Now, and this is natural, Gennady Chizhikov is distancing himself in every possible way from his former patrons and is making desperate efforts to retain his position as President of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
