The Prosecutor General's Office has detained a bribe-taker from the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction.

GPUAccording to a press release from the Prosecutor General's Office, the director of a department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction and a representative of a private enterprise have been detained. Criminal cases have been opened against them under Part 1 of Article 14 (preparation for a crime) and Part 3 of Article 368 (receiving an improper benefit by an official).

It has emerged that the director of the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction, and Housing and Communal Services, along with the deputy director of a private firm, demanded $20 from the chief power engineer of an agricultural enterprise in exchange for a permit from the ministry. The agricultural enterprise representative handed over the first installment of the bribe—$5—at a meeting with one of the suspects on November 18, and on November 24, he provided the remaining $15.

If the detainees are found guilty, they face up to 10 years in prison.
