State Fiscal Service: A company participating in the "Big Construction" project evaded paying more than UAH 18 million in taxes.

Employees of the tax police of the Main Directorate of the State Fiscal Service in Kyiv, under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, exposed officials of a private enterprise in tax evasion on an especially large scale, reports press office State Fiscal Service.

"In order to artificially inflate the cost of work and subsequently obtain cash (a kickback scheme), the company conducted non-commodity transactions, while only documenting the acquisition of inventory items and work from another company, while in turn carrying out financial and economic relationships with risky data storage systems.

"By deliberately acting, the defendants in the criminal case created an unjustified VAT tax credit. As a result of this activity, the perpetrators evaded taxes totaling over 18,600,000 hryvnias," the statement reads.

The company is known to have repeatedly won public tenders under the Big Construction program.

Based on a district court ruling, tax police officers conducted searches of office and residential premises, which resulted in the discovery of tender documents and financial and business records attesting to the theft of budget funds, draft records, and cash totaling more than 6 million hryvnias in equivalent.
