Serhiy Podgayny, who served as head of Ukravtodor (the State Agency of Automobile Roads of Ukraine), resigned on September 16, 2015. This information was reported by the KV publication, citing the Ukravtodor press service.

Serhiy Podgayny explained his decision by citing his tiredness fighting the system and the indifference of senior management to the industry's problems. As Podgayny noted, most of the issues addressed by Ukravtodor fall outside the agency's purview, while issues that require solutions and are hotly debated by the public remain unresolved.

It was previously reported that, according to preliminary estimates by State Agency staff, at least UAH 500 billion is needed to repair public roads of national importance. This figure does not include the cost of repairing roads and bridges in the temporarily occupied territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. This figure also does not include repairs to local roads, the condition of which is much worse than that of national roads.
