The Chairman of the Supreme Administrative Court of Ukraine, Oleksandr Nechytailo, has submitted his resignation.
Nechytailo submitted it to the High Administrative Court. According to the Supreme Administrative Court's press service, the document will be reviewed at a meeting of the High Council of Justice within 30 days. No details about the reasons for Nechytailo's resignation have been released, although rumors have begun circulating in judicial circles that he is being pressured. In particular, former Supreme Administrative Court judge Vasyl Yurchenko voiced this theory, stating that the Supreme Administrative Court had recently made a number of decisions that were unsatisfactory to the authorities. The former head of the Supreme Administrative Court did not elaborate on this information.
This isn't Nechitailo's first attempt to resign. On March 27 of this year, he resigned as head of the Supreme Administrative Court, and three days later, on March 30, his candidacy was resubmitted and approved for the same position.
For her part, Valentina Symonenko, Chair of the Council of Judges, stated that Nechytailo's statement was nothing new to her. She also denied rumors that his resignation was connected to the negative reaction to the Supreme Administrative Court and possible pressure on its head.
