The head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration, Valeriy Baranov, has resigned. He announced his decision on his VKontakte page, where he posted a photo of his corresponding statement addressed to the country's president.
"I request that I be relieved of my position as head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Administration at my own request," the statement reads.
Valeriy Baranov, a member of the People's Party, has headed the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration since March 2014 and ran for parliament in the 74th constituency as a single-member candidate. According to preliminary results, he is losing to Petro Sabashuk, a candidate from the Petro Poroshenko Bloc.
