The situation surrounding the criminal investigation into fraud committed by officials of the agricultural holding company AGREIN is becoming increasingly complex.
In particular, one of the judges at the Holosiivskyi Court in Kyiv confirmed reports that intermediaries for one of the co-owners of the agricultural holding, Pavel Ovcharenko, who has already been charged with fraud, repeatedly offered the Holosiivskyi Court judges a "gratitude" of $250 for a positive ruling in his favor.
"I absolutely don't understand why there's such a fuss around this situation. This is a simple matter of securing criminal proceedings, in which suspects continue to illegally encroach on property that doesn't belong to them," the judge said.
In addition, she confirmed that P. Ovcharenko uses not only financial opportunities, but also administrative resources.
"Yes, indeed, it's a well-known fact among Kyiv judges that Ovcharenko is willing to generously reward anyone who rules in his favor. They tried to deposit around $250 in our court. As for the appellate court overturning our rulings, there's nothing secret about that either. The decision in the appellate court was lobbied by a high-ranking official of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
As a reminder, Pavel Ovcharenko and officials of the Agrain agricultural holding company under his control are suspected of committing criminal offenses, specifically fraud and abuse of office. According to law enforcement, these individuals are currently absconding from the investigation and are therefore wanted.
