Delta Bank has failed to repay the NBU's 4 billion UAH refinancing loan. NBU Governor Valeria Gontareva announced this at a briefing.

Gontareva stated that Delta Bank, which was declared insolvent, had failed to repay 4 billion hryvnias in refinancing. The head of the National Bank expressed hope that most of the loan proceeds were used to pay Delta Bank depositors. Gontareva also reported that this refinancing was secured by a portfolio of consumer loans with a 0,25% interest rate, which the NBU, through the Deposit Guarantee Fund, could sell to repay Delta Bank's debt. The NBU head added that Delta Bank needed approximately 22 billion hryvnias in additional capital.

As a reminder, on March 2, the NBU declared Delta Bank insolvent, and the Deposit Guarantee Fund appointed a temporary administration from March 3 to June 2, 2015. Delta Bank has been operating in Ukraine since 2006 and is one of the largest banks. The bank's main shareholders are businessman Mykola Lagun (70,61%) and Cargill Financial Services International Inc. (USA) (29,39%).
