Gontareva "buried" 111 billion hryvnias along with failed banks.

bankOver the past two and a half years, approximately 70 banks have disappeared from the Ukrainian financial market, including major banks like Delta, Nadra, VAB Bank, and BBB (Brokbusinessbank), taking with them not only large sums of money but also the hopes of countless trusting clients. The victims weren't limited to legal entities: more than half of the funds whose return is not guaranteed by the state or the Deposit Guarantee Fund (over 200,000 hryvnias) belonged to individuals (private deposits).
The head of the NBU, Valeria Gontareva, spoke about this (Read more about it in the article Valeria Gontareva. The Glitter and Machinations of the Queen of Coins), stating the following verbatim: "According to our calculations, the potential losses of bank clients who were withdrawn from the market amount to 111 billion hryvnias, of which 59 billion hryvnias are losses on deposits not guaranteed by the Deposit Guarantee Fund, and another 52 billion hryvnias were lost by business entities." While there is still hope of receiving the legally granted 200 hryvnias, depositors will have to say goodbye to the rest of their funds.
