The State Aviation Service will conduct an unscheduled inspection of Kolomoisky's UIA.

mauThe State Aviation Service has decided to conduct unscheduled inspections of UIA (Ukraine International Airlines, controlled by Kolomoisky), Kyiv International Airport (Zhuliany), and Interavia LLC and Master-Avia LLC. This was reported by the State Aviation Service.

The inspection will focus on compliance with regulatory requirements to ensure adequate flight safety. The State Aviation Service made this decision in response to recent incidents during UIA flights, which occurred on January 15 and 16, 2016, at Lviv Airport and Kyiv Airport (Zhuliany).

As a reminder, on January 15, 2015, a UIA Boeing 737-800, flying from Lviv to Kyiv, was forced to land at Lviv Airport immediately after takeoff. It was later determined that the emergency landing was due to a burning plastic smell emanating from the aircraft. The following day, January 16, a UIA flight from Lviv to Boryspil was forced to land at Kyiv Airport (Zhuliany), where the plane skidded off the runway during landing.
